Sorry for the lateness of the post today. I made mention of it yesterday, but I’ve been pretty busy this weekend preparing for the SABR conference on Thursday, and the Tater Trot Tracker posts are going to be late because of it. The posts will be brief, as well.

Home Run of the Day: Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies (Trot Time: 23.99 seconds) [video]

Ryan Zimmerman also hit a walkoff home run yesterday, but Gonzalez’s happened to give him the cycle too. Point goes to Gonzalez.

Slowest Trot: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – 28.7 seconds [video]

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a trot this slow. It’s not enough to make it in the top 10, though. Kansas City’s Billy Butler also put in a slow trot, clocking in at 27.56 seconds.

Quickest Trot: Scott Rolen, Cincinnati Reds – 17.77 seconds [video]

I’m always happy to see Rolen atop this list.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
