Trot Times for May 31, 2015

It’s been a while, so let’s get to the trots!

But first a quick word on the state of the Tater Trot Tracker. To start with, I apologize for the unexpected hiatus during the month of May. It was a combination of being too busy with family/work stuff and of losing access to the right technology for a brief time. Things should have settled down finally, so hopefully the Tater Trot Tracker should be back on a regular basis. In the meantime, I’ll go back and catch up on the days that I missed (which were pretty action packed – just ask Bryce Harper and Josh Donaldson).

Now on to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Martin Maldonado, Milwaukee Brewers – 19.32 seconds [video]
Walking off in the 17th inning in style. Maldonado capped off the special moment by sliding into home plate amongst his celebrating teammates.

Slowest Trot: Jhonny Peralta, St. Louis Cardinals – 25.43 seconds [video]
Peralta beats out Adam LaRoche (25.39 seconds) and Brandon Phillips (25.24 seconds) to win the slowest trot of the day.

Quickest Trot: Martin Maldonado, Milwaukee Brewers – 19.32 seconds [video]
Maldonado’s walkoff trot was the quickest of the day. It barely edges out Tampa Bay’s David DeJesus, who trotted home in 19.35 seconds after his blast bounced back onto the field in a slightly confusing moment. Better to sprint home just in case someone decides that the ball was still in play.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
