Trot Times for June 5, 2015

Hey, did you know June 5 is the 30th anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s trip to Wrigley Field? It’s kind of a big deal.

Now let’s get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – 20.99 seconds [video]
StatCast called this home run 478 feet. Hit Tracker Online called it 484 feet. I call it a bomb.

Slowest Trot: Brett Lawrie, Oakland Athletics – 25.03* seconds [video]
This one might be unfair, as the video cuts back to Lawrie a step or two past home plate. It’s possible, then, that Mark Teixeira, at 24.74 seconds, had the day’s longest trot.

Quickest Trot: Jean Segura, Milwaukee Brewers – 18.08 seconds [video]
A leadoff home run in the top of the first is all Segura needed to earn the day’s quickest trot. It’s a small victory for the Brewers, but, hey, they need all the victories they can get!

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
