Trot Times for June 25, 2015

A light day for home runs, so let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Reds – 27.46 seconds [video]
A go-ahead blast in the top of the 13th. It’s not quite as exciting as a walkoff blast, but you can’t fault Phillips for that. He doesn’t set the schedule. A pretty good display of excitement from Phillips at the plate as soon as he connected with the ball. Some might call it excessive.

Slowest Trot: Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Reds – 27.46 seconds [video]
The best thing about this trot from Phillips, despite its slow, deliberate speed, came at the end. As he celebrates with his teammate a few steps past the plate, Phillips suddenly turns around and walks back towards the plate and stomps on it to make sure that the run counted. Thankfully for the Tater Trot Tracker, video from the Pittsburgh broadcast makes it clear that Phillips touched home during his trot and, therefore, the extra stomp was unnecessary. If he had needed that final step for the trot to officially count, I have no idea how I would have counted it here.

Quickest Trot: Adam Eaton, Chicago White Sox – 17.4 seconds [video]
Eaton wasted no time giving the White Sox the lead over the Tigers on Thursday, with this speedy leadoff trot.
