Trot Times for June 19, 2015

It was a pretty good night for home runs! Let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees – 26.25 seconds [video]

You can read up on the details to A-Rod’s milestone trot here. Needless to say, the home run has caused quite a stir among the media but not much of one among the fans (well, except for the guy who caught the ball).

If it wasn’t for A-Rod, though, this night would belong to southern California. In Los Angeles, the Giants beat the Dodgers thanks to an early grand slam off the bat of Buster Posey. The Angels one-upped their crosstown rivals, however. Playing in Oakland, Albert Pujols – yes, he’s good again, haven’t you heard – helped complete the Angels’ comeback from down 7-2 with a seventh inning grand slam. The Halos would go on to win 12-7.

Slowest Trot: Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees – 26.25 seconds [video]
As I’ve said elsewhere, the only reason this trot was so slow was because it took forever for the ball to come down on the other side of the fence. Once it did, A-Rod trotted around the bases at a brisk pace, but it wasn’t enough to counter the immense hangtime.

Boston’s Hanley Ramirez had the next slowest trot of the night, clocking in at 25.9 seconds.

Quickest Trot: Brett Gardner, New York Yankees – 19.17 seconds [video]
Apparently there were other home runs in the Yankees game last night. In fact, Rodriguez’s teammates Gardner and Didi Gregorius topped the list as 1 and 2 for the quickest trots of the night.
