Trot Times for April 23, 2015

It was a slow day for home runs around the league on Thursday, with only twelve balls leaving the yard. Don’t worry, though. The baseball gods are just trying to get our guards down before the weekend. Let’s get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Manny Machado #2, Baltimore Orioles – 23.32 seconds [video]
It wasn’t enough to bring the O’s all the way back, but this three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning – Machado’s second of the night – kept things interesting. Toronto ended up walking away with the 7-6 victory, but not without biting a few fingernails.

Slowest Trot: Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers – 26.29 seconds [video]
It’s been more than two weeks since Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run but this blast, his sixth of the year, brings him back atop the National League leaderboard (tied with Joey Votto). That was quite the first week.

Quickest Trot: Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – 20.01 seconds [video]
A laser over the left field wall. Stanton just barely misses out on being the only sub-20 second trot of the day.
