Trot Times for April 15, 2015

It was a big day for number 42 yesterday, as he clobbered 30 home runs around the league! 30! That’s got to be some kind of record.

Let’s get to the trots.

Home Run of the Day: Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays – 25.53 seconds [video]
A slow trot for Bautista, but it wasn’t for any nefarious reasons. Bautista ended up waiting at home plate before beginning his trot because he needed to know if the ball would land as a home run or not – and not because it might hit the foul pole or something. No, this was the rare “Is my home run ball going to hit the roof?” moments. It doesn’t happen all that often.

Slowest Trot: Hanley Ramirez, Boston Red Sox – 27.61 seconds [video]
A sub-28 second trot from Hanley might be considered quick these days, honestly. Other slow trotters were Jose Bautista (mentioned above) and Alex Rodriguez, who took 25.49 seconds to round the bases on his chase to mess with the Yankees’ legal department.

Quickest Trot: Adam Rosales, Texas Rangers – 17.56 seconds [video]
There was a time when an Adam Rosales home run meant a record-breaking tater trot. We all age, though. Still, 17.56 seconds is nothing to sneeze at! (Also, what is being timed on the stadium video board at 15-seconds into the clip above? Are they timing Rosales’ trot at the stadium?!)
