Trot Times for May 28, 2014

Gotta be quick so let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Nelson Cruz #2, Baltimore Orioles – 24.88 seconds [video]
This is home run number 19 on the season for Cruz, who no one seemed to want to sign over the off-season. Baltimore has to be feeling pretty good right about now.

Slowest Trot: George Spring, Houston Astros – 27.29 seconds [video]
Springer never seems to be moving slowly on this shot to left-center, but it all adds up to a 27-second trot. I don’t know if this is the case or not, but Springer may have been so slow because he was trying to keep a certain distance between himself and the runner in front of him. There was plenty of room for Springer to catch up to the runner, but he chose to hang back and run at about the same speed.

Quickest Trot: Mike Zunino, Seattle Mariners – 18.92 seconds [video]
The only trot of the day to clock in under 20 seconds. Compared to so many other trots recently, Zunino seemed to zip around the bases.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
