Trot Times for May 23, 2014

The long, beautiful holiday weekend is finally here, so let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Adam Dunn, Chicago White Sox – 24.94 seconds [video]
Danger, Hawk Harrelson warning! Luckily, my appreciation for Adam Dunn and his monstrous home runs — in this case, a walkoff blast in Chicago — outweighs any hate I have for the Hawk. Plus, you can always just turn the speakers down. Hell yes!

In Miami, Milwaukee’s Khris Davis (video) battled out with Giancarlo Stanton (video) for the longest blast of the night. According to HitTrackerOnline, Davis edged out Stanton by a mere four feet.

Slowest Trot: Mark Reynolds #1, Milwaukee Brewers – 25.46 seconds [video]
It was a slugfest in Miami. Reynolds hit two home runs for the Brewers, while Stanton and Garrett Jones did the same for the Marlins. Reynolds second trot came in at a much quicker clip (only 22.36 seconds).

Quickest Trot: Yonder Alonso, San Diego Padres – 19.95 seconds [video]
It’s not saying much when the quickest trot of the night only barely squeaks in under 20 seconds.

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
