Trot Times for May 12, 2014

Let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Rougned Odor, Texas Rangers – 22.0 seconds [video]
The first career home run for the man with the funny name. And, no, his name doesn’t sound like the smelly word that it looks like. Take a hint from Game of Thrones and give his name the respect it deserves: “ODOR!”

Slowest Trot: Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox – 25.27 seconds [video]
Abreu’s power feels like a gift from the gods, with the Cuban exile already with 14 home runs on the year. However, the baseball gods must not have been entirely happy with us that day because they also cursed us with the voice of Hawk Harrelson punctuating each and ever Abreu home run.

“Up, up! You can put it on the boooooooaaaard…!”

Quickest Trot: B.J. Upton, Atlanta Braves – 18.17 seconds [video]
The Braves-Giants tilt at AT&T Park resulted in three home runs: a splash hit from Tyler Colvin, a splash hit from Freddie Freeman, and the quickest trot of the night. You could do a lot worse than that.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
