Trot Times for June 24, 2014

A few more home runs hit yesterday than the day before, with a couple of extra-inning blasts making a difference. In Houston, George Springer blasted one 465 feet. But let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Ian Kinsler, Detroit Tigers – 22.41 seconds [video]
Kinsler couldn’t contain his excitement upon hitting a home run in his first at-bat as a visiting player in Arlington. He smiled and shook his head to himself all the way around the bases.

Slowest Trot: Dioner Navarro, Toronto Blue Jays – 28.32 seconds [video]
It’s hard to keep track of this sort of thing, but this home run by Navarro — his fourth of the season — may be the single worst trot in the Tater Trot Tracker era when it comes to footwork. Navarro has more trouble rounding second and third than I’ve seen on any other trot (and that includes some doozies!). Ryan Zimmerman, who hit Washington’s go-ahead shot in the 16th inning in Milwaukee last night, had the next slowest trot of the night at 25.83 seconds. He was probably just tired.

Quickest Trot: Curtis Granderson, New York Mets – 18.18 seconds [video]
Granderson tops San Diego’s Tommy Medica, who nearly had his home run robbed at the wall, for the quickest trot. Medica clocked in at 19.09 seconds.
