Trot Times for July 2, 2014

A quick one today as I wonder who the MLB analogue is to Weezer’s music career. Now let’s get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays – 27.47 seconds [video]
A walkoff home run from one of my favorite sluggers this year. The way he skips into his crowd of teammates at home plate rivals Rajai Davis for the best trot of the year.

Slowest Trot: Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays – 27.47 seconds [video]
Encarnacion won the day, but his Toronto teammate Juan Francisco wasn’t far behind at 25.65 seconds. In Washington, Jayson Werth strolled home to the tune of 25.49 seconds.

Quickest Trot: Enrique Hernandez, Houston Astros – 19.11 seconds [video]
The first career home run for the kid who will hopefully change the spelling of his nickname to “Kique” or “Quique” or something takes the crown as the speediest of the day. In Boston, fellow rookie Mookie Betts also hit his first career home run. Though he sped out of the box (touching second base in only 8 seconds), he slowed down to a more typical 19.76 seconds.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
