Trot Times for April 18, 2014

Catching up on a few days worth of trots here, so let’s get right to business.

Home Run of the Day: Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – 22.33 seconds [video]
I don’t think I can ever get sick of these. For the second time this week, a game ends on a walkoff grand slam. And as with everything he does, this one is better because it came off the bat of Giancarlo Stanton. Let’s hope they never stop.

Slowest Trot: Albert Pujols, Los Angeles Angels – 24.44 seconds [video]
The Angels first-baseman is marching hard on his 500th career home run, and now sits only three from the milestone. This 24-second trot would not be the slowest trot of the day on a typical day, but bad luck puts him atop the leaderboard on Friday.

On Thursday, New York’s Alfonso Soriano crushed one to deep center field and watched it fly. His trot clocked in at 26.32 seconds, the slowest trot of the last three days.

Quickest Trot: Scott Van Slyke, Los Angeles Dodgers – 19.65 seconds [video]
There were 23 home runs hit around the league on Friday, but Van Slyke’s trot was the only one to clock in under 20-seconds. That trend held all week. The quickest trot since Wednesday was only 19.15 seconds, on a sprint from Aaron Hill. It’s a rather disappointing showing from the week’s quick trotters, that’s for sure.
