Tax Day brought rain-outs to a quarter of the league, with four games washed out around the league. There might be a metaphor in there somewhere.
Now let’s get to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: Mike Leake, Cincinnati Reds – 18.68 seconds [video]
Cincinnati pitcher Mike Leake did well in holding the Pirates to three runs in seven innings, but it was his sixth-inning, two-run blast that was the best part of the day. Leake raced around the bases like he was being chased by the cops, giving us the quickest trot of the night.
Slowest Trot: Jhonny Peralta, St. Louis Cardinals – 26.53 seconds [video]
Peralta’s ninth-inning blast gave the Cardinals a commanding 6-1 lead over the Brewers as Milwaukee went on to lose its second in a row. Peralta beat out teammate Matt Holliday for the slowest trot of the night — by more than 3 seconds.
Quickest Trot: Mike Leake, Cincinnati Reds – 18.68 seconds [video]
Coming in behind Leake was Nationals shortstop Zach Walters. With his first career home run, Walters trotted home in a quick 19.15 seconds. No other player clocked in faster than 20-seconds.
