A lot happened over the last three days to skip over, so let's get right to the weekend's trots!
Home Run of the Day: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers (Friday) – 30.94 seconds [video]
With this monster of a blast off a just-called up Daisuke Matsuzaka, Miguel Cabrera became the second player this year (and 7th player of the Tater Trot Tracker era) to break the 30-second mark. You can read all about the marathon trot here.
Slowest Trot: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers (Friday) – 30.94 seconds [video]
Not counting Cabrera's trot on Friday night, the next slowest trot of the weekend belonged to… Miguel Cabrera. His 27.0 second trot Sunday afternoon may have been the slowest of the day, but it seemed downright speedy for Cabrera this weekend.
Quickest Trot: Ian Kinsler, Texas Rangers (Friday) – 15.66 seconds [video]
What made Friday all the more strange was that, while Cabrera was giving us one of the slowest trots of the last four years, the Rangers were busy giving us two of the quickest we'll see all year. First, Tater Trot Tracker Adam Rosales hit his first home run as a Ranger. The resulting trot — 16.13 seconds (video) — is currently the fastest non-inside the park home run trot time of the season.
A few innings later, Ian Kinsler, Rosales' teammate, laced a chopper down the third base line. When left fielder Dayan Viciedo had trouble finding the ball, he held up his hands, hoping to get the umpire to call it dead. The play was very much alive, though, and Kinsler went around to score in 15.66 seconds.
It should be pointed out that Rosales' trot time was less than half-a-second slower than Kinsler's, and that's with Rosales tripping out of the box.
