Trot Times for May 28, 2013

It's been a few days since we've seen the Tater Trot Tracker. I hope you all have spent it watching the new season of Arrested Development. Quick question: did you find it weird that they replaced all of Buster's scenes with a giant animatronic Voltron? Just me?

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Neil Walker, Pittsburgh Pirates – 22.41 seconds [video]
The only run of a 1-0 game and it came via a home run in the 11th inning? That's something to celebrate, Neil Walker!

Also, the catch above, in which Aaron Hicks robbed Carlos Gomez of another home run, was quickly followed up with a home run by Hicks himself. Pretty good game for the kid.

Slowest Trot: Ryan Doumit, Minnesota Twins – 25.93 seconds [video]
One of three home runs in the Twins 14th inning victory over the Brewers. Doumit beat out Matt Holliday (24.59 seconds) and Derek Norris (24.52 seconds) for the slowest trot of the day. There's a chance he was slowed down by the runner on the basepath, but it's unlikely. The runner was nearly a full 90-feet ahead of him by the time Doumit rounded third.

Quickest Trot: Adam Rosales, Oakland Athletics – 17.29 seconds [video]
Talk about slow! A 17-second trot from Adam Rosales and there was no one on base? What, did he twist his ankle or something?

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
