Trot Times for May 16, 2013

The Tracker has been away for a few days and we've got a lot of catching up to do. Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Todd Helton, Colorado Rockies – 31.54 seconds [video]
We'll talk about Helton's home run separately. In the meantime, enjoy the Manny Ramirez home run above. With continued thanks to Manny Does Taiwan, this was Manny's sixth home run in Taiwan. His trot was a bit tough to clock thanks to the camera angle used at home plate, but the trot clocked in at no slower than 26.92 seconds (and possibly even 26.3 seconds). That's a quick one for Manny.

Slowest Trot: Todd Helton, Colorado Rockies – 31.54 seconds [video]
Again, we'll talk about this trot in a separate post. We would be remiss if we didn't mention that David Ortiz had a 28.72 second trot on Tuesday night. That would be the slowest trot of the year (with five of the ten slowest in Papi's name) if not for what Helton did Thursday afternoon.

Quickest Trot: Ryan Roberts, Tampa Bay Rays – 18.28 seconds [video]
One of only two trots to clock in at the 18-second range over the last three days. The other was Nolan Arenado's home run on Thursday, hit one pitch after Helton set a record. Between the two of them, Helton and Arenado were on the bases for just about 50 seconds!

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
