Trot Times for May 10, 2013

A day off means we need to get right to the trots.

Home Run of the Day: Prince Fielder, Detroit Tigers and Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – 23.44 seconds and 24.43 seconds [video and video]
Can you remember any two more mirror-image identical home runs in a game? I love 'em.

Slowest Trot: Jordany Valdespin, New York Mets – 25.06 seconds [video]
Valdespin's trot was the slowest verifiable trot on Friday, but there was likely a slower trot. In Cincinnati, Brandon Phillips took his sweet time rounding the bases before doing an elaborate step-on-home-plate routine. However, neither broadcast gave a clear view of Phillips' foot touching the plate, so I cannot say precisely how long his trot was. It could be anywhere between 24.5 and 26.0 seconds long. I'm leaning towards the longer side, but I can't say for sure.

Quickest Trot: Derek Dietrich, Miami Marlins – 17.71 seconds [video]
A great first career tater trot from Dietrich, who sprinted around the Dodger Stadium infield in less than 18 seconds. Milwaukee's Jean Segura had the second-quickest trot of the day at 18.0 seconds.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
