Home Run of the Day: Mike Napoli #2, Boston Red Sox – 25.68 seconds [video]
According to Hit Tracker Online, Napoli's first home run on Wednesday was actually the longer of the two, besting the second blast by about five feet. And it was certainly a gorgeous home run, but I still love the second blast more. The way it drops out of the sky and lands in that upper deck is amazing. Either way, though, it's pretty easy to see that Mike Napoli had a great day at the plate yesterday.
Slowest Trot: Mike Napoli #2, Boston Red Sox – 25.68 seconds [video]
He also had a nice, slow day. The first trot was an unremarkable 23.32 seconds, but the second was slow enough even to beat Adrian Gonzalez. Watching the video, it does appear that the baserunner may have slowed Napoli down some. It's hard to say for sure.
Gonzalez had the second slowest trot on his huge fly down the right field line, trotting home in 25.49 seconds.
Quickest Trot: Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers – 18.28 seconds [video]
Through 25 games this season, the Milwaukee center fielder is batting .367/.418/.644 (for a 1.063 OPS) with five home runs. He is also averaging an 18.28 second trot. Hard to beat that.
