Trot Times for June 21, 2013

Welcome to summer! Let's get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays – 22.51 seconds [video]
Let's all admire Encarnacion's blast with as much enthusiasm as he did himself.

There were also two first-career home runs hit last night, as Toronto fan favorite Munenori Kawasaki and Yankees rookie (with a great name) Zoilo Almonte each went yard for the first time. Chris Davis, meanwhile, hit his league-leading 27th home run of the season.

Slowest Trot: Yoenis Cespedes #1, Oakland Athletics – 26.26 seconds [video]
You never know what you're going to get from Cespedes. He routinely gives us 20-21 second trots, but then he goes and does this. Trot number two wasn't much quicker, clocking in at 25.38 seconds.

Quickest Trot: Jean Segura, Milwaukee Brewers – 16.83 seconds [video]
This trot surprised me. Oh, I know Segura can give us speedy trots whenever he wants to. I was surprised because, although this was obviously a quick trot, it didn't feel like a 16-second trot. When I saw the 16.83 seconds on the stop watch, I had to go back and watch it again to make sure I hadn't messed up the clock.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
