Trot Times for June 12, 2013

It's been a few days since we've last had an update here, so let's not waste any time and get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Brandon Moss #1, Oakland Athletics – N/A seconds [video]
Technically, this trot doesn't count. Thanks to the way Ichiro played the ball in right field – he actually ran in towards the infield as if he thought the ball was an easy catch – the runner at first (Josh Reddick) waited at first to tag up. Of course, the ball actually ended up out of the park so everyone was free to trot. Moss, however, had to stop and stand still while Reddick waited to tag before finishing his trot. As is the case with all interrupted trots, Moss's 25.6 second trot doesn't actually count.

Slowest Trot: Ramon Hernandez, Los Angeles Dodgers – 28.53 seconds [video]
Hernandez's 28.53 second trot most assuredly counts, however. I have no idea why this trot took so long to complete. For some reason, Hernandez just made it last forever. He ended up beating the next slowest trot by more than 2.5 seconds. In that trot, Albert Pujols seems to be slightly injured, grabbing at his knee as he rounds third for the home stretch.

Quickest Trot: Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City Royals – 18.73 seconds [video]
Cain tied the game up with this blast in the bottom of the ninth inning (with the Royals going on to win it in 10). His 18.73 second trot edged out Alex Presley (18.96 seconds) for the quickest trot of the night.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
