Trot Times for July 9, 2013

Apologies for being away these last couple of days. The missing trots will be filled in soon. Meanwhile, we get to deal with today's trots, which include ten home runs from the Cubs and Red Sox combined (not to mention multiple home run games from Dayan Viciedo, Kendrys Morales, and Adrian Beltre).

Let's get to those trots!

Home Run of the Day: Manny Ramirez, Round Rock Express – 25.99 seconds [video]
And then there's Manny Ramirez, who hit a home run in his third game back in the minor leagues. This trot was significantly faster than those we saw in Taiwan earlier this year. That's probably a good thing – I'm not too sure another ~29-30 second trot would have made anyone happy out there.

Slowest Trot: David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox – 29.33 seconds [video]
This one came pretty close to breaking the 30-second barrier. The ball sailed down the right field line, which kept Ortiz at the plate a tad longer than usual, as he waited to see if it was a fair ball. It ended up much more fair than he probably expected, though. The next slowest trot on the night was from Albert Pujols, whose slow 25.28 second trot was four seconds quicker than Papi's.

Quickest Trot: David Lough, Kansas City Royals – 18.92 seconds [video]
One of only three trots to clock in under 20 seconds. Out in Milwaukee, Cincinnati's Derrick Robinson had an inside-the-park home run called out at the plate. However, replays seemed to show that he was safe. Though the trot doesn't count since he was called out, I did clock the sprint at 14.93 seconds. To think, if he had only been able to make it in 14.75 seconds, the game could have gone very differently!
