Trot Times for July 22, 2013

Well, that All-Star break went on a little longer over here at the Tater Trot Tracker than it should have. I have a good excuse! I'm still stuck in the rain delay at the Wrigley Field Pearl Jam concert! (That's okay. It was awesome.) The rest of the weekend's trots will come soon enough.

Let's get to today's!

Home Run of the Day: Andrew McCutchen #2, Pittsburgh Pirates – 21.34* seconds [video]
Two home runs in the first two at-bats for McCutchen. That's a nice start to the "second half" for a team many are afraid will fade out of contention down the stretch.

Slowest Trot: Kendrys Morales, Seattle Mariners – 24.81 seconds [video]
One of only two trots to be slower than 24-seconds. Washington's Adam LaRoche had the only other slow trot.

Quickest Trot: Devin Mesoraco, Cincinnati Reds – 18.72 seconds [video]
I have to admit, I was a bit surprised by this…

In the Chicago game, rookie Junior Lake hit his first career home run, a ball that sailed down the left field line. Somewhere along the way home, Lake got caught up behind another Cubs baserunner and almost passed him. This made the trot look quite fast, but, in truth, it clocked in at 23.46 seconds. I don't know what caused the baserunner to move so slow, but there's a good chance most batters would have caught up with him.
