Trot Times for August 7, 2013

Let's get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Justin Upton, Atlanta Braves – 23.74 seconds [video]
Not to harp on the Braves/Nationals series for yet another day, but there were few other memorable trots on Wednesday night. Let's recap real quick: Monday night, Upton crushed a ball down the left field line that secured a win for Atlanta. The trot clocked in at 27.36 seconds. On Tuesday, Bryce Harper followed the Upton home run up with his own blast, this one with a 23.66 second trot (and also a bit of watching and bat tossing). Harper was then plunked on the next pitch he saw.

On Wednesday, Upton once again led off the scoring with this blast. His trot was much quicker and in-control than his trot on Monday night. However, at 23.74 seconds, it was still slower than the trot Bryce Harper was plunked for.

Unwritten rules in baseball are the best!

Slowest Trot: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – 27.9 seconds [video]
Normally, I'd say that this was a typical trot from the Tigers big slugger. However, Cabrera has been a much quicker trotter this season than in years passed, very consistently coming home in the 23-24 second range. Not last night.

In San Diego, Baltimore's Chris Davis hit his 41st home run of the season. His 26.21 second trot was merely his third slowest of the year.

Quickest Trot: Robbie Grossman, Houston Astros – 18.27 seconds [video]
One of only four trots to clock in under 20 seconds.
