Trot Times for August 1, 2013

Seventeen players hit home runs on Thursday. Four of those seventeen hit two home runs each. That has to be some kind of record.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles – 26.26 seconds [video]
Davis was not one of those four players, but he did crush a ball over the fence for his 39th home run of the year. That's a lot of home runs.

Slowest Trot: Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles – 26.26 seconds [video]
Of course, his trots can use a little more work. Either give us really slow trots or really fast trots. These 26-second trots aren't quite enough. The next slowest trot belonged to Anthony Rizzo, whose two tater trots clocked in at 23.68 seconds and 23.64 seconds, respectively.

Quickest Trot: Yasiel Puig, Los Angeles Dodgers – 18.82 seconds [video]
Puig keeps going. Of the four multi-home run hitters last night, the quickest trot belonged to Justin Upton. His first trot of the night clocked in at 20.16 seconds. Most of the rest of the trots were in the 23-second range.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
