What is this, like the third home run this year that was the direct result of an outfielder knocking the ball over the wall? Forget the "age of the pitcher" we're supposedly living in because of all the no-hitters and perfect games recently – we are clearly in the era of the inept outfielder. Fun times.
Let's get to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: Jose Bautista #2, Toronto Blue Jays – 19.75 seconds [video]
Forgive me for a stealing a joke I made on Twitter, but, every time Fernando Rodney blows a save on a home run, he should try and use his imaginary bow to shoot it down. Big game for Bautista, however, who had two home runs and the game-winning knock in extra innings.
Slowest Trot: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – 25.06 seconds [video]
A thing of beauty, Miguel. A thing of beauty. (I also love the color commentator's contribution to the call there, as it was clear that he didn't actually see the ball clear the fence until after the replay.)
Quickest Trot: Curtis Granderson, New York Yankees – 18.5 seconds [video]
Granderson hits his first home run of 2013 and he's already the quickest trotter of the day. Perfect.
