Home Run of the Day: Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers – 21.79 seconds [video]
Kemp's second home run of the season was this big blast to left field at Miller Park. It earns Home Run of the Day honors, however, for what happened after the game. Kemp, who is from the Oklahoma City area of Oklahoma, tweeted that he will donate $1,000 to tornado relief for this home run and any others he hits between now and the All-Star break. Considering the devastation that was left behind yesterday, that kind of news deserves some recognition.
Slowest Trot: Yunel Escobar, Tampa Bay Rays – 24.85 seconds [video]
Escobar's manager was none-too-happy with the "safe" gesture he swiped as he crossed the plate (though this highlight cuts away just long enough to miss it). Apparently, if you're kind of a jerk and you do something kind of jerky, people don't like it. Crazy.
Quickest Trot: Will Venable, San Diego Padres – 17.51 seconds [video]
Nice and speedy from the San Diego outfielder. Seattle's Kyle Seager had the next quickest trot on the day, clocking in at about 18.4 seconds.
