Home Run of the Day: Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees #3 (Trot Time: 26.08 seconds) [video]
I wish I was a writer for the New York media because, if I were, I’d be able to tell you just what this three home run game from A-Rod means. Instead, all I can say is that he had a really great night against the Royals on an afternoon where the ball seemed to be flying out of the ballpark. His other two trots were also pretty slow (25.04 seconds and 25.1 seconds), but only his third home run is even in the top four slowest trots of the day.

Slowest Trot: Josh Bard, Seattle Mariners – 26.6 seconds [video]
On a day where A-Rod hit three homers and took more than 25 seconds to trot out each one, and on a day where Hideki Matsui and Pablo Sandoval each also had 25-second trots, it’s a bit surprising to see Seattle’s Josh Bard atop the list. But this was a grand slam where Bard was caught behind Casey Kotchman‘s near walk around the bases. There was nothing much Bard could do.
Quickest Trot: Wes Helms, Florida Marlins – 18.57 seconds [video]
Another surprise, as Helms isn’t exactly well known for his speed. But he beat out Texas’ Josh Hamilton fair and square yesterday, with Hamilton putting up “only” an 18.65 second trot. New York’s Curtis Granderson was the only other sub-twenty second trot of the day, coming in at 19.35 seconds.
