Home Run of the Day: Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees (Trot Time: 24.26 seconds) [video]
With only thirteen home runs hit around the league yesterday, there was very little chance of having another home run as intriguing as Luke Scott‘s hamstrung home run trot the other night. The Yankees were able to provide some excitement, though, when Alex Rodriguez‘s two-run, go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth cleared the rightfield fence. It may not have been as dramatic as A-Rod thought it was (according to ESPN NY, he thought he had just hit a walkoff home run), but it was still a pretty good moment.

Slowest Trot: Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees – 24.26 seconds [video]
The other thing about having only thirteen home runs across the league to choose from is that the slowest and quickest trots are rarely all that slow or quick. That’s how A-Rod ends up here – though he was the slowest by a good margin. After Rodriguez, the next slowest trotter of the day was Casey McGehee, who ran his home run out in a nearly-league average 22.36 seconds.
Quickest Trot: Wilson Valdez, Philadelphia Phillies – 19.76 seconds [video]
Valdez is one of only two players to have sub-20 second tater trots yesterday. The second is San Francisco’s Buster Posey, who hit only the second home run of his career yesterday afternoon. His trot time was 19.86 seconds.
