David Ortiz hit two home runs on Tuesday but didn’t make the cut as slowest trot of the day with either. Is our world coming to an end?
Let’s get to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: David DeJesus, Tampa Bay Rays – 21.12 seconds [video]
DeJesus was pumped after this blast into the Seattle bleachers. The home run tied the game up at 1 in the top of the ninth inning. Tampa Bay would get the go-ahead run a few batters later.
Slowest Trot: Victor Martinez, Detroit Tigers – 28.0 seconds [video]
In Baltimore, the Tigers came from behind in the ninth to win 4-1. The scoring began with a 3-run blast from Miguel Cabrera and continued on the next pitch when Victor Martinez sent this one over the fence. Cabrera sped around the bases in a timely manner, but Martinez took a bit more time. In Minnesota, star trotter David Ortiz clocked in at 25.44 and 27.5 seconds on his two trots.
Quickest Trot: Curtis Granderson, New York Mets – 18.07 seconds [video]
Curtis Granderson returned to Yankee Stadium and did what he does best, speeding around the bases after clobbering the snot out of the ball. The next quickest trot of the night was 20.27 seconds from Baltimore’s Adam Jones.
