Captain America: Winter Soldier was pretty great, though I was a bit disappointed that Steve never gave Nationals Park a visit. Considering the number of civilian casualties in the movie, however, it was probably a good thing for the citizens of Washington, D.C.
Now let’s get to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: Ike Davis, New York Mets – NUM seconds [video]
Pinch-hit, walkoff grand slam? Pretty much impossible to top that.
Slowest Trot: Jhonny Peralta, St. Louis Cardinals – 25.6 seconds [video]
Peralta edges out Adam LaRoche (25.44 seconds) for the slowest trot of the day.
Quickest Trot: Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers – 17.66 seconds [video]
An absolute blast off the middle of the light tower above the Green Monster in Fenway. As quick as this trot was, it could have been much quicker. It took a moment for Gomez to get going at the plate, but the real slow down came as he approached home. With the Brewers’ dugout on the third base side, Gomez did what many trotters do and slowed his steps so that he would have no forward momentum when he touched the plate. Without that, Gomez might have had another ~16.0 second trot in one week.
