Trot Times for August 15, 2013

Once again, I must make apologies for the intermittent Tater Trot Tracker posts. Things have been fairly busy recently (and will probably be through the wedding next month). Please bear with me.

Now let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Hector Sanchez, San Francisco Giants – 24.26seconds [video]
Ninth inning, two outs, 3-2 count, down by two, runners on first and second. Is it even possible to script a better home run? The Giants beat the Nationals on this monster shot from Sanchez.

Slowest Trot: Nate Freiman, Oakland Athletics – 25.63 seconds [video]
This is not Freiman's fault. For some reason, baserunner Yoenis Cespedes was meandering on the bases, causing Freiman to practically walk behind him. This isn't the first time Cespedes has drastically affected a teammate's tater trot. Josh Donaldson still has the fourth slowest trot of the season because Cespedes happened to be on first in front of him.

Quickest Trot: Chris Nelson #1, Los Angeles Angels – 19.12 seconds [video]
Nelson's first two home runs as an Angel were hit on Thursday. His second trot was a bit slower than the first, though that might be because it was a grand slam.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
